Many new poker player just jump into playing poker online but
they never take the to learn how to play correctly. Here
are the top 10 tips for playing poker online.
1) Picking a casino. Try not to spread
yourself too thin. Many people go all out and become
members to dozens of online casinos. Try not to be a member of
anymore than 6 casinos. Also make sure they have a strong
reputation, because that's very important.
2) Betting limits. When you pick a
betting limit, try to keep it one of these choices here: $1/2,
$2/4 or $5/10 blinds. Anything higher, could really do
some damage, if you don't know what you are
doing.
3) The Stake. General consensus is that
you have to have at least 50 to 100 times the big blind.
Anything less than that and you are lowering your chances of
winning.
4) Picking a table. You
want to take the time to know who's at the table. Just watch
for about 20 minutes to see the action on the table. Then spend
another 20 minutes on another table. You want to do this
about 3 times. After it's all said and done, pick the table
which you consider the loosest.
5) Picking a position in the table. Find
the tightest player you see on the table, and sit beside him on
the left hand side.
6) Make notes of how players
play. Pay attention to the style of each player.
Notice how fast or slow they are to bet? Do they fold a
lot on the flop? How aggressive or passive are they in
their betting style? These are all important issues that
you have to pay attention when you are playing.
7) Lose the chat feature. You are
hear to make money and win. This is not a social
meeting. You want that, join any of the millions of
online chat rooms. You're main goal is to stay
focused.
8) No other distractions. No TV,
music, cellphone, or web browsing. You think the guys
from the World Series of Poker would be wathcing Deal or No
Deal while playing poker? I don't think so!
9) Play Tight. The people who lose
big in online poker are the ones that play really
loose.
10) Limit yourself to one hour. Play
for an hour, then take a break. When you play for too
long, you start to lose your focus. You need a little
time to recharge your batteries.
